At OG Web Solutions, we designers stay as a team whether at work or while having fun. Last weekend, the entire design team decided to take a break from work and went on an adventure trip. After a lot of discussion and planning, we finally zeroed in on Haridwar and Rishikesh. These holy places are great for an adventure holiday. The entire week was busy with deadlines, but we were looking forward to our weekend trip. Finally, the weekend has arrived and we took off for our adventure holiday.
Haridwar is 200 km from Delhi and four to five hour drive time. we started the journey from New Delhi at 4:00 AM and reached Haridwar around 9 AM, travelling via Ghaziabad, Murad Nagar, Modi Nagar, Meerut, Roorkee.
After crossing Meerut, the road is better and vehicles can travel faster here. We crossed the Crystal World Water park and Patanjali – Baba Ramdev Ashram, which we decided to visit later. While crossing Roorkee, we encountered frequent traffic jams which were a bit irritating. The weather was also not so great as temperature were high with humidity. Thanks the car AC, we felt comfortable. After spending a good 90 minutes in traffic we finally reached Haridwar. We were all excited to see the River Ganga.
Well in Haridwar there are many Ghats where you can bath, but the most popular and safest one is Har Ki Pauri. Har Ki Pauri is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This revered place is a major landmark of the holy city of Haridwar. Literally, “Har” means “Lord Shiva” who is the god according to Shaivite Rishav Bhagwan school of Hindu theology, “Ki” means “of” and “Pauri” means “steps”. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are believed to have visited the Brahmakund in Har Ki Pauri in the Vedic times.
We reached Har ki Pauri and saw very heavy water flow. We all slowly went inside the river and enjoyed the cold water. Now no one was complaining about heat or breakfast. Everyone were enjoying a lot.
The Ghat has the necessary stairs required for the safety of tourists. Not only this, there were strong iron chains hanging just below the Ghat so that the people could go down by holding it safely.
Then we went for breakfast. There are many small but good restaurants there. Just like Delhi, Kachori is a famous street food in Haridwar as well. Served along with sabzi and chutney, it can be enjoyed as a quick snack at any time of the day. We took a heavy breakfast. (Kachori with sabzi and chutney, samosas with mint & Imli ki chutney, Lassi & Kulhar wala milk).
After that we left for Rishikesh and check-in at Gostops Rishikesh. Our experience at Go stops rishikesh was amazing! They have very comfortable and clean beds! Comparing nearby stays this was the best! They have a really cool theme. You can hangout with strangers in the common area! Here you can enjoy many activities like billiards, chess or ludo! Food was good and value for money.
We set out in the morning to do white water rafting in the rapids of the holy Ganga river. Rishikesh is one of the best places to do white water rafting. This is an amazing adventurous activity, as we race down the swirling waters in a raft. The entire team had booked a trip with one of the local operators. We got equipped with all the safety accessories – helmets, life jackets and then set off on our adventure.
This was a two and a half hour trip and we chose the Marine drive trip. A total of 26kms was covered in two and a half hours and it was sheer joy and adventure. As we paddled down the rapids, we encountered the most amazing scenery with a mind-blowing view of the Himalayas. It was thrilling and adventurous, but was safe. Apart from occasional rough waters, it was an absolute cool trip.
For those in our team who had come for the first team, it was the most thrilling time they had experience in their life. It was truly an amazing time we had together. We had thrills and fun and also bonded together. It was a great team building experience for us designers. Busy in front of our computers all the time, this was a truly exhilarating experience.
We were not done yet, and a few of us set out to take adventure to the next level with bungee jumping. The adventure site is maintained by professionals who ensure world-class safety standards. While some of us went for bungee jumping from a height of 270 feet, others went for the giant swing, where you get to swing 200 feet high in the air. This was yet another thrilling experience for all of us.
Having completed our adventure trip, we took a quick visit to the Beatles Ashram, where the Beatles had stayed with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It was already getting late. A quick coffee and snack at the Beatles cafe and we decided to embark on our return journey. We stopped only at Jain Shikanjiwala on the way as it was a popular eat out in this area. We ordered Special Masala Shikanji and dinner. We were able to reach our homes by midnight.
This was an amazing holiday experience, an unforgettable weekend masti for the entire team. We must do this again!
